Outloud Let's Get Serious Album Review



 

Greek/American melodic hard rock band Outloud‘s “Let’s Get Serious” is by far one of the best releases of the summer. On my personal list, it’s right up there with Red Dragon Cartel, Gus G’s “I Am the Fire” and Marty Friedman’s “Inferno”. If you are a fan of the 80’s, this album will definitely remind you of the good days, although it’s no rock n roll cliché. This album is packed full of melodies, and Bob Katsionis is king. His virtuosic guitar and keyboard skills are front and center, giving the listener an eargasm without overpowering the rest of the band. Chandler’s vocal performance is astounding. He paints the lyrical picture perfectly by singing with such emotion that makes you feel like you are a part of the song. The tracks on the album are diverse and don’t blend in together the way some albums do after the first couple minutes, and there isn’t a dull moment anywhere. It opens with “Deathrock!” which is definitely a headbanger , next is the catchy but bad ass love song  “I Was So Blind”. The songs that stand out the most melody wise are the title track instrumental, “A while to go”, “One More Time” and the “Enola Gay” cover. One of my favorites is the acoustic passion filled “It Really Doesn’t Matter”, And “Burry the Knife” & “Like a Dream” are infectious from the chorus to the solos. before I give away too much more, I'm going to end this review by saying this album was very well put together, and is a must have for all melodic rockers.

Finally It's Here!: I Am The Fire Gus G. Album Review

This album review is long overdue. Finally the highly anticipated solo album by Greek virtuoso Gus G. has arrived. Even though it’s a fresh sound from anything he’s done before, it is far from disappointing and proves that Gus is a talented and diverse musician which is rare to come by in today’s highly manufactured music industry. Even though it is different from Firewind, it does share one similarity: not one bad song is on the album. It’s perfection from start to finish and has something for everybody. “Redemption” ft. Michael Starr (Steel Panther) takes you back to 80’s metal, and songs like “End of the line”, “My will be done” “Blame it on me” and “Eyes wide open” have that hard rock edge to them. “Just can’t let go”, title track “I am the fire”, and “Long way down” have the current but not generic modern rock/metal sound, and Instrumentals “Vengeance” ft. 2014 Grammys Disappoint Rock/Metal Fans (No surprise there)

  It was clear that Rock N’ Roll was finally a major part of the Grammys last night…sorta. But even though there were a lot of good moments for classic rock and heavy metal (Beatles Reunion, Black Sabbath’s award presentation, Metallica’s pyro-filled performance) there were still a lot of disappointments that pointed out how much the Grammys truly care about the rock community. First off, the metal category isn’t shown during the actual award ceremony. Seriously? One of the biggest genres doesn’t deserve air time? And even though Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath both won awards, Sabbath’s “God is Dead?” lost out to Nirvana and Paul McCartney’s “Cut Me Some Slack” for best rock song. (Clearly no bias there at all) Also the final performance that included Nine Inch Nails, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and Lindsey Buckingham was cut short. But I think the most disappointing snub of the night came during the tribute to the fallen musicians that excluded Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman....
