Arch Enemy "War Eternal" Album Review

Image
Yesterday 6-10-14, Arch Enemy released their highly anticipated album “War Eternal”. And let me say this album is HEAVY and aggressive. Alyssa’s voice is powerful and she sounds a lot different, or dare I say better from her days in former band “The Agonist”. Michael Amott reigns with his guitar providing astounding melodies, “Avalanche”, “Tempore Ninil Sanat” and “Not Long for This World” and “Grave Yard of Dreams” really showcase his talent as a virtuosic guitarist. Though melodic there is nothing weak about War Eternal, as they definitely stay true to the melt-you-face-off aspect of death metal. The title track, “As the Pages Burn”, “You Will Know My Name”, “On and On” will do just that. There are also anthem style songs like those on their last album “Khaos Legions” such as “Never Forgive, Never Forget”, and “No More Regrets” and last but not least, one of the best songs on the album is their cover of the Judas Priest classic “Breaking The Law”. They give the song a total make o

Outloud Let's Get Serious Album Review

Greek/American melodic hard rock band Outloud‘s “Let’s Get Serious” is by far one of the best releases of the summer. On my personal list, it’s right up there with Red Dragon Cartel, Gus G’s “I Am the Fire” and Marty Friedman’s “Inferno”. If you are a fan of the 80’s, this album will definitely remind you of the good days, although it’s no rock n roll cliché. This album is packed full of melodies, and Bob Katsionis is king. His virtuosic guitar and keyboard skills are front and center, giving the listener an eargasm without overpowering the rest of the band. Chandler’s vocal performance is astounding. He paints the lyrical picture perfectly by singing with such emotion that makes you feel like you are a part of the song. The tracks on the album are diverse and don’t blend in together the way some albums do after the first couple minutes, and there isn’t a dull moment anywhere. It opens with “Deathrock!” which is definitely a headbanger , next is the catchy but bad ass love s

HMH Presents: An Interview With Blackmass Of Rotting Flesh

Image
Rotting Flesh is an underground atmospheric black/death metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece. The band formed in the early 90’s and have released multiple demos and two full length albums. I just recently found about this band via twitter, and decided to give them a listen and was far from disappointed. I have the honor of interviewing Blackmass, so without further ado, here’s Rotting Flesh in their own words: Hello how’s it going? Greetings! Very well indeed. So tell me how you guys got started. The band was formed back in 1992. Being an enthusiastic black and death metal fan myself, I wanted to do something of my own and decided to form Rotting Flesh. How did you come up with the band’s name? When the band was formed, we all gathered and had a discussion about how this endeavor of ours would be called. We came up with “Rotting Flesh”. Nothing special to add here, sorry to disappoint you! What was recording your first demo like? Th
